Ruth Trujillo-Pertew, MSW, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hi, I am Ruth! I am a psychotherapist with over ten years of experience facilitating transitions and growth. I am a firm believer that each one of us has the answers to our problems but we may need a little help sometimes to clarify goals and direction.  My approach is eclectic and collaborative: I take from many different approaches that best fit with each client. My goal is to create a safe space to let you be yourself, be heard, understood and help you to reach your goals.

I consider myself a generalist and see a wide range of psychological issues in my practice such as depression, grief, life transitions, childhood trauma, codependency, work/relationship stress, addictions, and family issues. I work from a strength-based and Rogerian, client-centered approach. I utilize psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques.

Clients have said that I am gentle and warm in my approach supporting with positivity, encouragement and empathy as well as being proactive in challenging limiting beliefs.

I am passionate about growth and learning and believe that each of us is capable of achieving our goals and desires. In my spare time I love to be with my sons, reading, writing and hiking in the woods. I find a lot of inspiration and spiritual connection in nature: I am a certified Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) guide and gain a lot of insight from my own nature-based practice.

I am fluent in Spanish having migrated to the United States from El Salvador when I was 13 years old and lived in Spain for some time. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Hispanic Languages, Literature and Culture and my Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook University in NY. I am also licensed across states and provide services for clients throughout Texas and New York.

Whether you need help with relationship issues, family problems, work related issues or emotional difficulties I would love to support and help you on your journey.

Great job reaching out. I look forward to working with you!
